I started my professional writing career when I was hired by a local book publisher in 2006. There, I assisted the editor-in-chief with proofreading and administrative duties. I also developed the modernized their inventory system, developed an online presence for the publisher, and created sales letters.
In 2009, I moved to South Korea to teach English. In my spare time, I began regular postings on Happenchance, a personal development site for creative people. While there, I picked up a couple clients in the U.S. and New Zealand. I also wrote a few articles for Matador Travel and PickTheBrain. During this time, I also launched my fiction career (here’s my fiction website).
Not long after I returned to the states, I took a job working for a state tourism marketing agency. Here I drafted travel and tourism reports for state-level cabinet officials and developed informational pamphlets on local destinations. I continued freelancing during this time.
Then I got tired of the freelance writing grind and retooled my skill set.
I presently work as a software engineer.
